I hate "registration restricted" sites so much, I fill out all the forms with garbage. Instead, this will automatically fill it with garbage, and allow you to create an account using a fake email address. Remember to make all the cookies "session" ones, so that the login expires when you close your browser.
The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age registration states that:
We want you to register so we can improve smh.com.au and keep the site free.
The information you provide will give an overall profile of our readers and enable us to work better with advertisers.
This is a big "fuck you" to that policy. I don't want to be spammed just for viewing your site, or tracked what I am doing over sessions.
The code is a simple bookmarklet. You just add the bookmark to your "Links" toolbar bookbark folder, and when you get the Fairfax registration page, click it, fill out the 'security code', and click register.
You can normally just drag this onto your links toolbar: SMH/Fairfax Login.
Please note that Microsoft Internet Explorer on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (on i386), Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (on amd64) and Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 1 (on i386 and amd64) will probably complain about security because there is JavaScript code in the link. You can safely ignore it.
We all like pretty pictures, so here is one from Mozilla Firefox on Linux:

This bookmarklet was inspired by the NYT Random Login Generator, infact, the bookmarklet code is based on that.
